On January 15, a one-hour online event entitled ‘Bold Action on Water and Climate Adaptation’ will be held, on the topic of ‘Climate Adaptation and Community Engagement’.
This is an official Side Event of the Climate Adaptation Summit 2021 hosted by the Netherlands. This international summit aims to create a comprehensive Adaptation Action Agenda to make our world more resilient to the effects of climate change.
Speakers at this event include Holger Knaack - President Rotary International 2020-2021, Henk Ovink - Special Envoy for International Water Affairs at Kingdom of the Netherlands, Eddy Moors - Rector of IHE Delft, Marco Schouten - CEO at VEI and Director at Foundation Water for Life and Hans Gehrels - Strategic Advisor on water and climate resilience and member of the Organizing Committee of the Bold Action on Water and Climate Adaptation Event. The speakers will share their thoughts and advice in a lively hour-long debate, where some questions from the audience will be addressed.
This event aims to create awareness among the networks of all the organizing partners; the organizers want to inspire IHE Delft alumni, Rotarians and others to become People of Action. The projects discussed at this event offer a concrete action perspective. Rotarians will be encouraged to continue to commit to clean water and sanitation for everyone in the world, while consciously choosing to focus on making the most vulnerable people more resilient to the negative consequences of climate change on water safety and water security.
This event is a joint initiative of Rotary, IHE Delft and Water for Life. These partners have joined forces for more impact: Rotary for fundraising and the use of their network and knowledge of local Rotarians, IHE Delft aiming at the development of future water leaders and use of the network and knowledge of their local alumni, and Water for Life for the implementation of sustainable water projects together with local water companies and communities.
