Alumni Sketch at Pre-Departure Briefing Jakarta 2018
The alumni sketch took a new stage this year as the Pre-Departure Briefing moved its venue to the National Library with the Erasmus Huis still under renovation. Alumni sketch is an annual performance by Holland alumni to show how it is like to live and study in the Netherlands. Some of the actors have previously played in the sketch performance, like Utrecht University alumna Marlindah Sumampouw and IHS - Erasmus University alumna Bramandita Resa. Marlindah (Study in Holland Ambassador 2011) reprised her role as Bu Linda, a government official who received co-funding scholarship from her office and the Dutch government, while Resa (Study in Holland Ambassador 2017) played a slightly different character. This year she was a lecturer at a local university who went on a full scholarship to the Netherlands. Another Study in Holland Ambassador 2017 who made a come back this year was HAN University of Applied Sciences alumnus Oky Adrian, playing as immigration officer. This year we had four new actors: IHS - Erasmus University alumnus Jeremy Christopher playing as young businessman Jeremy, VU University Amsterdam alumna Suci Anastasia as Uci, IHS - Erasmus University alumna Yulia as Thai classmate Popkorn Sebackul, and TU Delft alumnus Ferdian Suprata as the lecturer. The sketch also featured University of Groningen alumna Karina Oratmangun, who appeared during the airport and classroom scene. The performance itself was accompanied by a presentation on living and studying in Holland by alumni officer of Nuffic Neso Indonesia Oxalis. The sketch performance presented important stages that the students will most likely experience in the Netherlands: Arriving at the airport, studying in the classroom, shopping for Asian ingredients, feeling homesick, and graduating from their studies. The half-hour-performance received warm response from the audience as it gave them a clearer idea on what to prepare and anticipate before going to the Netherlands.
